Congratulations to the five John Bapst students who competed in the Maine State Science Fair at the University of Maine in Orono, Saturday, April 1, 2023.
Carolina Lobe ’25, Sophie Kahn ’23, Albert Bai ’24, Emily Adams ’23, and Anh (Tracy) Vo ’23 all did a wonderful job representing John Bapst Memorial High School.
Anh Vo won a 3rd place Grand Award, (the top category of the entire competition) and a 1st place in the Behavioral Sciences – Cognitive Psychology & Sociology category, as well as a full-tuition scholarship to the University of Southern Maine. Her Grand Award topic was “Which areas of computer science have the most significant impact on inspiring girls to participate in the STEM fields?” The award includes representing Maine at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair in Dallas, Texas in May.
Emily Adams won a third place award in the Biomedical & Health Sciences category as well as a four year renewable $2,500 dollar scholarship to Saint Joseph’s College of Maine.
Albert Bai won a second place award in the Biological Sciences & Engineering category as well as a Society For In Vitro Biology Special Award.
All the students had a great day, with an incredible showing, fueling excitement for competition next year. Congratulations to all, including science faculty staff members Emma Bragdon and Elyse Daub and Science Department Chair Mary Lammert.
