The PSAT allows students to evaluate their current test-taking competencies. The test is divided into three areas: critical reading, mathematics, and writing. It is a preparation test for the SAT, which most students will need for college admissions. The results of the PSAT provide valuable feedback to students in pinpointing areas that may need improvement.
Students are to be in attendance from 8 to 11:40 a.m. They should be in their testing rooms and ready to begin by 8:00 a.m.
Dismissal is at 11:40 a.m. Buses will arrive at 11:40 a.m.
What to Bring
All students need to bring several sharpened number two pencils on each of the testing days. Sophomores need calculators for the PSAT. For the description of approved calculators and explanation of calculator use, please check the pre-test information students received from the school’s counselors during scheduled meetings, or go to the following online site: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/psat/about/calculator.html
All students should bring something to read in case there is a period of time between the finish of the test and dismissal. All students will remain in testing rooms until 11:40 a.m., even if they have finished the test.
