Visit the school nurse if:

  • You are feeling unwell
  • You’ve been injured, either on or off campus
  • You need medication, either over the counter or prescription
  • You have a health concern that you want to talk about
  • You’re dealing with a chronic condition
  • You need to get a health screening (i.e. vision screening)

Immunizations
All students who attend John Bapst must comply with Maine laws and recommendations regarding immunization records. All students must have the immunizations required by the state of Maine for enrollment in a Maine school. The school nurse can clarify what immunizations a student may need for enrollment at John Bapst.

Philosophical or religious exemptions are only allowable for students with an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) and exemption in place prior to September 1, 2021. Medical exemptions for one or all vaccines with require a written statement from a licensed physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant. Medication Administration
For the safety and well-being of students, we encourage parents and guardians to administer any necessary prescription medication at home whenever possible. However, we understand that some students require medication during school hours, and our school nurse can assist with this process.

If your child requires medication during school hours, please complete a "Permission to Administer Medications at School” form and submit it to the school nurse. This form requires information from both the parent/guardian and the student's medical provider.
Medicine must be delivered to the school in a pharmacy or manufacturer-labeled container by a parent/guardian or a responsible adult whom you designate. Please ask your pharmacy to provide separate bottles for school and home.
