On Wednesday, March 19th, John Bapst National Honor Society members attended the Maine State NHS Convention at the University of Maine with nearly 400 other student leaders from around the state. Previous MNHS officers Ada Sinclair-Steele ‘25, Elinora Barker ‘25, and Julia Burns ‘25 helped plan and lead this year’s convention, which focused on the Pursuit of Growth. Workshops were held throughout the morning so students could connect with peers and learn how to embrace opportunities for growth in everyday life. Presenters for some of these workshops included our own school counselor, Mrs. O’Reilly; yoga teacher, Ms. Grover; NHS advisor, Mrs. Babcock; and our MNHS officers Ada, Elinora, and Julia. That morning, new candidates presented their speeches on the pillars of the National Honor Society – Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service – and the new officers were sworn in. Representing John Bapst at the state level for 2025-2026 will be Izzy Fagone ‘26 as MNHS President, Maisie McCarthy ‘26 as Vice President, and Brighton Chung ‘26 as Secretary. The new officers will plan the 2026 banquet and convention, working with other officers from around the state.
