The John Bapst robotics team recently returned from a trip to the west coast where they participated in a national competition. While in Seattle, the team gained valuable experience, new perspective, and momentum for the future. Competing against 115 teams from across the country, the SunggleMuffins finished 34th in the qualification rounds, an impressive result given the highly competitive field.

At the tournament, teams were divided into two divisions, and John Bapst found itself in a particularly strong group. They faced many similar or higher-ranked opponents throughout the event. Despite challenging and often unbalanced matchups, they performed exceptionally well, finishing with a record of six wins and six losses, and earning bonus win points through strong in-match performance. The competition provided a powerful learning opportunity that has already begun shaping the team’s plans as they look ahead to future events and a potential path to the World Championship.

The trip also strengthened the team off the field. Outside of competition, students explored downtown Seattle and took part in team-building activities, rounding out a memorable experience that combined high-level competition, growth, and fun.
