John Bapst faculty member Brendan Murphy is broadening his influence in math education, moving beyond the confines of his third-floor classroom through several impactful professional ventures.

Starting in August, Murphy took on a part-time remote role as Content Lead for AP Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, and AP Calculus BC with Mass Insight. In this position, he helps to craft and present professional development sessions for roughly 100 high schools and 125 teachers. This work supports thousands of students across the country as they navigate challenging AP mathematics curricula.

In addition to his contributions at Mass Insight, Murphy is part of a national group working on a new AP Precalculus textbook. The Student Edition is almost finished, and Murphy is now co-authoring the Teacher’s Edition. AP Precalculus is the fastest-growing AP course to date, and this new textbook will be a vital resource to meet the urgent demand for high-quality teaching materials.

Murphy's dedication highlights John Bapst's commitment to academic excellence and leadership, with his expertise actively shaping math instruction locally and nationally.
