I hope this finds you well as we start the final weekend of Spring Break. It is hard to believe that when we get back on Monday school will end in 40 days and there will only be four of these memos left for the rest of the season! It is going to be fast and furious. It is going to be fun and exciting!
However, in order to enjoy that fun and excitement through practice and competitions, we need to work together. We will need to communicate. Competition schedules will be published Monday. Practice schedules will continue to be shared this way. Many things will affect those schedules.
Most basically, we will need good weather for our outdoor sports. As we learned this week, the weather will affect our routines. Facility availability continues to be an issue for all schools. We are still working to give our teams the best opportunity to practice and compete on the best fields and courts available to us whenever possible. Transportation to those venues is a constant hurdle this spring. The driver shortage for buses in our area is still real and still only allows us to have buses at certain times. Please continue to let Coach O’Connell know if you need a van ride to any of the activities on the schedule. We will still need help from families to get us to practices and competitions. Thank you for all your help.
COVID-19 continues to be a huge variable in our schedules. We still need to follow the rules and guidelines established for school and activities. We must still wear a mask, distance physically whenever possible, we should not share water, we should sanitize our hands and equipment whenever possible, and we should keep turning in our screening forms. We should not come to school or practices when we don’t feel well and especially when we show symptoms of the virus. Potential quarantining for our community and our opponents will change our schedule. And on and on it goes….
But the GOOD NEWS is, however disjointed, or hectic, or scrambled our schedules might become, we still get to play! We must continue to study hard and take care of our school responsibilities. We should work hard at practice to make ourselves better and enjoy our chosen sports. We should compete “hard” with our best effort as we take on and respect our opponents. We should take advantage of the next 40 days of school and sport, and everything else, as we finish strong for this school year.
We thank you for all you are doing! Good Luck with the rest of your seasons!
