John Bapst Robotics team 2142E is back from the VEX Worlds competition with hard won experience. They also have the advantage going into next year with a quarterfinals competition against world class robotics teams under their belt – the furthest a John Bapst team has climbed through the ranks of the International VEX Worlds.
“I find myself so proud of this robotics team,” said robotics team coach Mike Murphy. “ For an entire year, they have poured their minds and bodies into this endeavor, and they have much to be so proud of having accomplished.”
Team 2142E from John Bapst made it into the quarterfinals with a tight 15-16 final match score. VEX Worlds Quarterfinals is the furthest any John Bapst team has ever reached, Murphy said. The team succumbed in their quarterfinals round largely due to a one point difference with their competitors. The team eventually lost the match 23 to 16. Had the autonomous been different, the resulting score would have been 19 – 20, in favor of 2142E.
“Bapst came within two matches of competing under the grand dome where Muhammad Ali once stood in his title 6 round victory,” Murphy added. “Twenty thousand spectators cheering wildly to the sound of thumping DJ music, laser lights, and fog. On to next year!”
John Bapst Robotics team 2142E was joined at the 2019 VEX Worlds competition by coach Mike Murphy and 15 team volunteers and chaperones.
