The 2013 Spring Sports season brought many teams and individuals well-earned recognition. Of particular note, the baseball team had an exciting season (read more here) and Adrienne Carmack received a Maine Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship (more here).
Baseball: The Crusaders finished with a final regular season record of 14-2. They finished 1st in final heal points making them Penobscot Valley Conference Regular Season Champions. Dave Gonyar was named Penobscot Valley Conference Coach of the Year.
Shawn Curran and Evan Pelkey were named to the First Team of the PVC All-Conference Teams; Tom Burns and Nolan Webber were named to the Second Team.
Jordan Carr, Andrew Catlin, Jon Deschaine, Josh Baker, and Evan Pelkey were included on the PVC All-Academic Team.
Shawn Curran and Evan Pelkey were recognized as Senior All-Stars by the Maine Baseball Coaches Association.
Tennis: The Boys Tennis Team made it to the Eastern Maine Semifinals with a final record of 9-5, finishing 4th in heal points.
Matt Dunning was a State Singles qualifier and made First Team All-Conference Singles. Ryan Ding was named to the Second Team All-Conference Singles.
Matt Dunning was also included in the Penobscot Valley All-Academic Team.
The Girls Tennis Team made it to the Eastern Maine Quarterfinals with a final record of 6 – 8, finishing 8th in heal points.
Stephanie Parent, Raechel Segal, and Bethany Waanders were named to the Penobscot Valley Conference All–Academic Team.
Softball: Karrie O’Donnell was named to the Second Team Maine Softball Coaches Association Junior Class All-Star Selection.
MacKenzie Hayman, Kendra Kelly, Darby Paul, Cassie Gray, and Kristian Kenney were included on the PVC All-Academic Team.
Outdoor Track: The John Bapst track team had a solid season loaded with individual recognitions.
The John Bapst Girls Team finished 7th at the state meet and were also PVC Runners-Up.
Many John Bapst student athletes were named to the PVC All-Conference First Team. In the 4×800 relay Adrienne Carmack, Mandy Richard, Adrianna Fish, and Jade Decker were recognized; Elise Tilton was included for long jump, and Maegan True for shot put.
Included in the Second Team were Jade Decker and Rylan Norris in the 800m; Adrienne Carmack and Connor Wagner in the 3200m; Katie Cotton for 100m hurdles; Hallie Semmel, Elise Tilton, Katie Cotton, and Katherine Larochelle for the 4×100 relay; Miranda Colman, Mandy Richard, Casey McGuire, and Jade Decker for the 4×400 relay; Casey McGuire, Hannah Philippon for triple jump; and Maegan True for discuss.
Included as PVC All-Academic Team Members were Adrienne Carmack, Katie Cheff, Kelsey Burke, Casey McGuire, Elise Nosel, Elise Tilton, and Philip Faulkingham.
