Last year, Mrs. Morgan asked the students in the Simple Gifts Club if they would be interested in making 8 x 8 squares of various designs so that they would learn how to read knitting patterns, learn a variety of stitches and create something as a group. Six students and three adults worked throughout the year to make a collection of knitted squares. Once completed, Mrs. Morgan crocheted the squares together. The incredible volunteers were students Samantha Cole, Sharon Qian Huang, Joseph McCage, Rachel Ruiqi Yan, Taylor Smith, and Lydia Yanfei Zhang, along with Mrs. Levasseur, Mrs. Morgan, and Mrs. Ortiz.
The club decided that they would donate the afghan to Project Graduation to be used as a fund raiser, which they will do Monday. The Simple Gifts Club’s mission is to promote and encourage the love of craft work and to share with our students the pleasure of creating handmade items for the people we care about. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers.
