Katelyn Seile ’23, was selected to participate in the 2022 Keller BLOOM Program at the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, May 15th – May 20th. This is a highly selective, hands-on marine science program with only 16 Maine high school juniors chosen as participants each year. Katelyn is currently a student in Ms. Campbell’s Marine Biology class at John Bapst. This is the 3rd year in a row a John Bapst student has been accepted as a BLOOM Program participant!
“BLOOM offers Maine students interested in science the opportunity to work alongside professional researchers, exploring the biological, chemical and geological characteristics of the local marine environment through field and laboratory work. Program participants are immersed in a research environment and, through engagement in field sampling and laboratory activities, including data collection, synthesis and analysis, learn what a career as a scientist involves.”
