Bangor Symphony Youth Orchestra Education and Community Programs Manager Katie Hardy along with John Bapst student violinists Sophia Steadman and Colin Aponte were in the TV5 studio to talk about their upcoming fall concert.

The concert takes place Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Brewer Performing Arts Center.

Doors open at 3:30 p.m. A suggested donation of $5 is the cost of admission. Donations will go to the Good Shepherd Food Bank.

The concert will feature performances by the Prelude String Orchestra, the Prelude Wind Ensemble, and the Philharmonic Orchestra, led by conductors Sascha Zaburdaeva and Rebecca Mallory.

The November 17th concert will include a range of works and features two Bangor Symphony Orchestra musicians. Laura Gallucci, viola, will be performing the sizzling Danza Latina by Brian Balmages with the Prelude String Orchestra and Scott Burditt, horn, will work with the Philharmonic Orchestra to perform Paul Dukas’ demanding Villanelle.
Through a continuing partnership with BSYO season sponsor Dead River Company and the Good Shepherd Food Bank, the concert will also be a food drive, dubbed “A Symphony of Cereal.” Audience members are asked to bring donations of cereal to the event for the Good Shepherd Food Bank, which serves more than 100 local agencies in Penobscot County.
