The Maine State Science Fair was held this weekend at Thomas College and John Bapst was represented by 17 students. In total, there were over 300 students from around the state competing.
The following students participated, sharing their research projects during poster sessions with the public and interacting with 5-10 judges:

Our students performed fantastically under pressure, and felt confident in sharing their research with the greater community of scientists and students. At the fair, there are awards for top projects in each category and there are also several “special” awards sponsored by specific organizations. We also had students receive scholarships.
The following honors were awarded to John Bapst students:
Category Awards
Biomedical Sciences– Meg Lander (A mouse model for adipose neuropathy)
Physics and Astronomy– Grace Kirkpatrick (Analyzing tone of brass instruments of varying makes and models)
Special Awards
Stockholm International Institute Junior Water Prize – Andrea Grossman
Yale Science and Engineering Association award for most outstanding project in engineering science– Grace Kirkpatrick
Congratulations to all our students for a really superb showing at this year’s MSSF and thank you to the faculty who helped prepare the students.
