John Bapst science faculty member Ms. Trish Ortiz and her children have created a scholarship in memory of Ms. Ortiz‘s late husband, Louis “Sweet Lou” Ortiz, Jr. (The students he coached called him “Sweet Lou.”)
The Ortiz Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded each year to a graduating John Bapst senior meeting several criteria. The individual should be a STEM student in good academic standing with plans on attending the University of Maine; a student-athlete; and have a strong sense of community.
This year’s recipient is Jaymie Sidaway. Congratulations, Jaymie.
