Rockland — The Oceanside girls basketball team tried to make history Tuesday night, but, despite battling back several times, could not dig out of an early hole and had trouble containing one tall, talented opponent and two other shorter perimeter sharpshooters.
No. 8 Oceanside (12-7) lost to No. 9 John Bapst of Bangor (10-9) 56-45 in Tuesday’s Eastern Class B prelim playoff game. The Mariners and Crusaders were battling for a spot in the regional tournament at the Bangor Auditorium, which, ironically, is where John Bapst plays its home games.
