The students, faculty and staff opened the second semester of our academic year with a morning convocation in the Sekera Auditorium. Setting the tone was a remarkable performance of a Nocturne by Chopin, Op. 9 No. 1. by senior Isaac Webb.
Mr. Eric Duncan, faculty member in our Social Science Department, spoke of perseverance and the inspiration provided by his roadside discovery of George Moses Horton (1798–1884), an African-American poet and the first African American poet to be published in the Southern United States.
Finally, the student body welcomed our seven new international students, joining us from China, Germany, South Korea, and Vietnam.
