The John Bapst Chamber Ensemble will be the featured guest musicians at a special Maine Music Educations In-service Conference at the UMaine Orono campus on Friday, May 18. They have been selected to rehearse with presenter Sandra Dackow in her session for Maine string teachers entitled “How to Improve Your Effectiveness in Rehearsal.”
The Chamber Ensemble will perform Rimsky-Korsakov’s Dance of the Tumblers and Mozart’s Symphony No.12, both arranged by Dackow.
An annual ASCAP award winning arranger, Dr. Sandra Dackow has generated over seventy published works for orchestras and is an author of the Orchestra Expressions curriculum. She is active as a guest conductor, adjudicator and clinician across the nation and Canada, in England, Hong Kong, Singapore, Ukraine, South Africa and throughout Australia and Ireland. Articles of hers have appeared in major professional journals and she has contributed to, or co-authored music reference books, methods and texts. Dr. Dackow currently serves as President-elect of the Conductors Guild, an international organization.
