A report on the PVC-EMITL Conference Indoor Track Meet yesterday:
First and foremost, Ben Cotton was named “Co-Outstanding Male Performer of the Meet” with a perfect 30 points earned (that’s 3 first place finishes). He is the first male John Bapst athlete to win this award in the history of the PVC-EMITL, and only the third JB athlete to win it ever. (Last JB athlete to win the award was Melissa Lockman in 1991).
Ben also obliterated the New Balance Field House HS record in the Long Jump twice, first by jumping 21 feet 5 inches, and then later at 21 feet 6.5 inches. His winning time in the 55m dash, at 6.65, was one one-hundredth of a second off of the PVC-EMITL all-time record of 6.64. He also set a personal best in the 400m, winning at a time of 53.04 seconds.
Other awesome performances:
Brady Chadwick won the boy’s pole vault (11’6”)
Steve Fitzpatrick earned 2nd in the 200 (23.52), and fourth in the 55m (6.90)
Gavin McDonald earned 3rd in the high jump (5’10”)
Nick Brown earned 4th in the pole vault (10’6”)
(The boy’s team was third overall – only 16 points from first place – which is likely John Bapst boy’s best showing in a long time)
The girls 4x800m team (Jaymie Sidaway, Monique Savasuk, Isabelle Angelo, Eilidh Sidaway) earned fourth with a time of 10:35.31.
Georgina La Grange earned 4th in the 55m hurdles (9.69) and 3rd in the 400m (1.05.74)
