John Bapst welcomes Andy Stephenson in the role of varsity hockey coach of the coed hockey team. Last year the Bapst hockey team lost in the semifinals to Messalonskee and placed 5th overall.

Andy Stephenson played high school hockey at Hebron Academy in Hebron, Maine where he won a New England Championship in 1995 and served as Captain in 1996. He continued his career at Connecticut College where he played 4 years on varsity and was named Captain in 2000. Stephenson also played a pro season in the United Hockey League (UHL) — split between Mohawk Valley Prowlers and and Elmira Jackels.
Stephenson returned to Hebron Academy where he worked and coached for 6 years as Dean of Students, math teacher and tri-sport coach. During his coaching tenure he attended 3 New England Championships and won 6 League Championships.
His father, F. Wayne Stephenson, played 10 years in the NHL as a goaltender for the St. Louis Blues, Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals. He played in the World Championships for Team Canada (1967 and 1969), was an Olympic bronze medalist (Team Canada, 1968), and a Stanley Cup champion (Philadelphia Flyers, 1975). His brother, Chris Stephenson, is an assistant hockey coach for University of Washington.
Son-in-law of Gabby Price, Husson University Football Coach and lifelong Bangor educator and businessman, Stephenson moved to Bangor in 2008 to pursue business and family interests. He is the Managing Partner of WeeBeez Deli & Market, co-owner of Pepino’s Mexican Restaurants, and an active member of the community. Stephenson lives in Bangor with his wife Susan and their two children.
