Dear John Bapst community,
The past 24 hours have been especially difficult in Maine. Though we remain physically distanced from what happened in Lewiston yesterday, the incident there has undoubtedly impacted our school community here, as indicated in part by the significant number of families who chose to keep their students at home with them today.
In order to allow families to keep their students close at home while also maintaining our commitment to academic excellence, John Bapst will have an asynchronous school day tomorrow.
There will be no in-person or Zoom classes; students should plan to log into Schoology and to check their John Bapst email for assignments posted by teachers. Students will complete this work from home on their own schedule.
The end date for the first quarter has been extended to Wednesday, November 1. Students should direct specific questions about course work, due dates, and quarter grades to their teachers.
Extracurricular activities scheduled for after school tomorrow will go on as planned. Students should direct questions about these activities to their coaches and advisers.
Events planned for Saturday are on as scheduled at this moment, though schedule changes may happen due to extenuating circumstances. We will communicate any potential schedule changes for Saturday as soon as we know them.
We appreciate your support as we navigate through difficult times.
Thank you!
–Jason O’Reilly, Principal and Academic Dean
