JOHN BAPST MEMORIAL HIGH SET TO KICK OFF HOLIDAY SEASON WITH 25th ANNUAL CONCERT CHOIR TOUR AND HOLIDAY CONCERT
Tour Concert Scheduled for Holbrook Elementary School on November 29th, and Holiday Concert on Campus at Sekera Auditorium on December 9th
John Bapst has announced its 2012 holiday concert season schedule beginning with the Concert Choir Tour to be held Thursday, Nov. 29, 10-11 a.m. on the campus of Holbrook Elementary School. The school’s annual Holiday Concert will be held Sunday, Dec. 9, 1-3 p.m. in John Bapst’s Sekera Auditorium. (Concert snow date Dec. 16.)
The Tour Concert, in its 25th year, stages a memorable holiday performance at a school where there is no existing music program, serving to both educate and entertain the students and faculty, while also giving the John Bapst performers an opportunity to experience what it is like to be a touring musician. This year’s group of 50 singers will have the added benefit of going to the NESCOM Studio in Bangor after the Tour Concert for an in-studio recording session.
The annual Holiday Concert, Dec. 9, features performances by the school’s five ensembles: Chorale, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Chamber Chorale, and Concert Choir. The historic “Hallelujah Chorus” and “Sleigh Ride” will be performed at both the Tour Concert and Holiday Concert. The Holiday Concert is open to the public with limited seating. Admission is $3.00 per person either in advance at the Fine Arts Office or at the door.
“Our choristers and musicians have been working for months on a program that is sure to inspire the holiday spirit,” said John Bapst Music Director Al McIntyre. “The Holiday Choir is one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the school year, and this year promises to be a delight to the entire community. All are welcome.”
