Throughout the pandemic, our faculty and staff have been essential in getting us to where we are today.
Now we need your help to reach our Annual Fund goal.
Please acknowledge the hard work of our faculty and staff with a gift today.
Dear Friends of John Bapst,
Next fall and spring, you will be receiving these appeals from new Head of School Dave Armistead. He’s been at John Bapst longer than I have, and the school will be in very good hands. It’s been my privilege and honor to be John Bapst’s head for fourteen years, and as I transition to retirement let me plant one simple thought.
If you and I were starting a shoe company or a restaurant, we probably wouldn’t call it the Annual Shoe Company or Annual’s Surf and Turf. That term “Annual Fund” doesn’t do justice to how important our outreach is to you and – more to the point – how essential your support is to John Bapst Memorial High School.
At our school, the Annual Fund is really The Essential Fund. With our maximum allowable
tuition alone – a number set by the Maine Department of Education – we would never
be able to offer the kind of quality we do.
It is only through your generosity that John Bapst offers:
• 24 AP and 25 honors courses
• Art that includes everything from drawing and painting to photography and art history
• Music that embraces classical, jazz, and contemporary instrumental and vocal styles
• 16 varsity sports
• Myriad clubs and activities like Robotics and Model UN, Math Team and Junior Classical League
In this pandemic year, we’ve received critical support from the federal and state governments, Northern Light Health, and Penobscot Community Health Care (the latter just did an onsite vaccination clinic for all of our staff). In retooling for COVID-19, we have all the masks, PPE, fans, signage, buses, and substitute teacher personnel we need.
Where you come in is your support of the programs and opportunities that set John Bapst
apart – and the all-important message that tells our teachers, staff, and coaches they are appreciated.
Year in and year out, your generosity allows us to budget for excellence, hiring the best teachers and giving them and their students the electronic textbooks, lab equipment, art supplies, and sheet music they need. In short, you are essential.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 between now and June 30. Together, we can do it! Please consider giving today.
With sincerity and great affection for the people of John Bapst,
Head of School
Thanks to the generosity of our alumni, past and present faculty, staff, parents, grandparents, and friends, John Bapst continues its proud tradition of being academically challenging, independent, college-preparatory school fostering in students a respect for learning, for themselves, and for others. Your support provides opportunities for students to learn and explore in and out of the classroom.
Your annual fund donation makes you a part of some amazing accomplishments. Your gift, large or small, helps us expand STEM offerings, ensure a robust Advanced Placement program, provide a full field of sports options, maintain flourishing fine arts offerings, fuel state of the art technology classes, (including robotics) and provide generous financial aid to those who need it. We couldn’t do it without you. Please give to the 2020-21 Annual Fund today. Thank you.
