College Counselor

John Bapst offers Academic and College Counseling for all students. The Counseling Office offers academic guidance and counseling around course selection based on post-secondary goals, including:

  • College selection and application
  • Scholarship search and application assistance
  • Examination of potential careers
  • Interpretation of standardized test scores
  • Personal support and counseling
  • Referral services for enrichment opportunities and outside resources

The Counseling Office works closely with the Director of Admission and the Academic Dean to help students attain their educational goals. John Bapst’s College Counseling office provides a wealth of information regarding the counseling process from the college search to the final application.

Students are also welcome at any time to meet with their counselor to discuss topics of personal concern. Discussing a problem often helps the student realize a solution. Occasionally, the counselor may assist with a referral to an outside professional trained more specifically in a given area. The school is a great place to get started with an issue; ongoing, regular counseling needs are referred to outside professionals.

Students may visit the Counseling Department during study halls or before and after school. Parents are welcome to call or email any time.

Test Preparation
The website PrepMe is an online resource for test preparation. Students may also link their College Board PSAT scores with Khan Academy, an online personalized test preparation program.

Scholarship Information and enrichment program information may be found using Naviance.
