John Bapst

Strategic Plan

We're often asked, "Where is John Bapst headed?" The answer is simple: toward even greater excellence for the benefit of our students. We do not plan to get bigger. Strong day enrollment (with students from 35 Maine towns) and selective international enrollment (fewer than half of the international students who inquire are accepted) have put the school in the position of being able to think boldly about the future.

Adopted by the Board of Trustees in June 2013, John Bapst's Strategic Plan 2013-2018 focuses on three areas: Teaching and Learning, Community, and Sustainability. Click on this link (or image below) to see the full plan. In the meantime, here are several key goals:

  • constant improvement in teaching methods and results
  • improved compensation for our outstanding, dedicated teachers and staff
  • a new gymnasium
  • a new dining hall and kitchen
  • upgrades to Sekera Auditorium -- especially to the sound and lighting systems and to the stage itself

The Strategic Plan assumes ongoing progress in many other core areas of the program, from weekend and vacation activities in the boarding program to arts and athletic programs for all students.

John Bapst is a great school eager to be even better -- friendlier, more responsive to today's student needs, and better able than ever to open doors for students as they move on to colleges across America and beyond.
