Band Courses - Introduction to Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Band

Director: Julie Ewing and Al McIntyre
Description: Introduction to Band is designed for students without prior musical training and for those students who wish to review the fundamentals. Concert Band is a course for those students who have completed at least one year of playing a concert band instrument. Jazz Band is offered in conjunction with Concert Band and it designed to challenge the student in the art of improvisation and the style of jazz music.

Chorale Courses - Chorale and Concert Choir

Director: Al McIntyre
Description: Chorale is a course designed to channel musical abilities into the art of song. Concert choir is for an advanced performer. Students must audition for a spot in the Concert Choir.

Music Theory Course

Director: Al McIntyre
Description: This course is designed to challenge students who wish to learn about the written and auditory structures of music.

Band Council

Advisor: Julie Ewing
Description: The Band Council assists the Band Director with Music Camp, sectionals throughout the year, and the organization of all extra rehearsals and performances.

Chamber Ensemble

Advisor: Julie Ewing
Description: This small ensemble performs within both the school and community and provides students with an opportunity to rehearse and perform classical music.  Instrumentation includes violin, viola, cello, and string bass as well as wind players who enjoy playing with strings.  Styles of music rehearsed and performed include the classics, fiddling, jazz movie themes, and wedding music.

Chorale Council

Advisor: Al McIntyre
Description: The Chorale Council assists the Chorale Director with Music Camp, sectionals throughout the year, and the organization of all extra rehearsals and performances.

Jazz Combo

Advisor: Al McIntyre
Description: Jazz Combo provides the opportunity for three to eight musicians to learn and perform the art of self-expression through improvisation.

Jazz "Improv" Club

Advisor: Al McIntyre
Description: The Jazz "Improv" Club provides an opportunity for students to learn the art of solo and ensemble playing in many styles of jazz at the beginner and intermediate levels.

JB Peppers

Advisor: Julie Ewing
Description: The JB Peppers is an enthusiastic group of instrumentalists who provide music for Field Hockey, Junior Varsity and Varsity Football, Soccer and Basketball games throughout the year.  Styles of music rehearsed and performed are rock, jazz, and swing. (Note:  jazz is arranged for all instruments.)
