Investing in John Bapst
Your support of John Bapst today is a vote of confidence in the future. Our goal is to produce well-educated young people of good character. It’s as simple as that.
Meeting that goal, however, isn’t so simple. John Bapst educates its 470 students at an annual per capita cost of less than $10,000. Our tuition and fees cover approximately $9,000 of these costs per year. The remainder is presently covered through a combination of proceeds from the Annual Fund, income from our Endowment support, and from various other fundraising activities, such as our annual auction. Consequently, maintaining the best programs led by great teachers and coaches depends on the generosity of current and past parents, alumni, foundations and local businesses, and other friends of the school.
As your generosity benefits others, it can benefit you as well. Because John Bapst is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 charitable organization, contributions to it are generally tax-deductible.
The Annual Fund and our Boosters' Groups - Supporting John Bapst This Year
Unrestricted donations to the Annual Fund and restricted giving to the school’s Arts and Athletics Boosters allow the school to balance its budget each year – a requirement the Board of Trustees watches over carefully. Approximately 5% of the school’s annual budget is covered in this way. In 2007-08, giving to the Annual Fund reached $142,000. Another $85,000 came directly from the financial support of the Boosters.
Checks and credit card payments are an easy way to give. Tax benefits are available for such gifts when you itemize deductions on your income tax return. Be sure to keep acknowledgements and other records of your gifts to ensure that you can substantiate any deductions you claim on your tax return.
Cash may be wired directly from your bank or brokerage account to John Bapst. Gifts can also be made through your Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover card. Please call the Development Office (207-947-0313) for more information or specific instructions.
Is your employer one who will match your gift to John Bapst Memorial High School? Some companies will matches gifts 2:1 or greater. Check with your personnel/human resources office for a matching gift form.
