Independently governed with a largely publicly funded student body, John Bapst Memorial High School is coed, non-sectarian, and college-preparatory. Established in 1980 after a 52-year history as a Catholic school and located in the city of Bangor, population 33,000, Bapst serves a socio-economically and geographically diverse population within a 60-mile radius. Accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the school serves 456 students, grades 9-12. Bapst has 50 faculty members, including 2 college counselors, 6 administrators, and 4 support personnel who work with the student body. In 2006-2007 John Bapst was named the Maine High School winner of the Siemens Award for Advanced Placement. CEEB Number: 200055 |
