Student Handbook

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to the school year at John Bapst.

In this handbook you’ll find important information and guidelines – everything from calendar items and the John Bapst Code to information on counseling, the boarding program, and athletics.  We have been working on our website as well, making it more complete and more user-friendly.  Inevitably there will still be questions, and I hope you will always feel free to call or email us.  It’s our intention to keep the important information flowing.

This year John Bapst has the distinction of having been ranked the #1 academic high school in northern New England by the Washington PostOur students and teachers have brought us this honor, and we are proud of it.  At the same time, being #1 brings with it challenges – challenges not only to perform well on AP and SAT exams, but also challenges to live up to that top ranking in our professionalism, communication, and collegiality.  Those are challenges we are eager to meet.

Through the John Bapst Code that appears in this handbook and in many other ways, John Bapst continues to emphasize the importance of ethics in our students’ educations.  We have renewed our relationship with the Institute of Global Ethics as we strive to integrate the language of ethics into our academic and extracurricular lives.  The goal is to prepare students fully – as knowledgeable, capable, and contributing citizens – for the big world out there, and we always appreciate parent support in these efforts.

Happy new year to you and your family!
